First Location: Balcony on Main Street with a shot of the ocean a mile away. Three massage tables in two rooms, one for couples, a waiting room and the restrooms around the corner. The three year lease expired a couple years ago but the landlord is a handshake kind of guy and is open to signing a new lease with you. He built out the upstairs office for us a year ago with soundproofing everywhere, and operable tripple-pane windows and is finishing painting the building an elegant white with dark brown railings, soon.
Location 2 is in the business district below Stanford University in Palo Alto. Single room, ground floor with low rent, described as "cozy" and warm in 5-star reviews. Restrooms around the corner. |

People come regularly from San Francisco and San Jose to this beautiful tourist town on the California coast and the bustling downtown Palo Alto location. You could add more spa-like services, develop relationships with hotels and medical practitioners in the area. I had gone to BNI, Rotary and the Chamber but have really slacked off. You could increase income very easily just by being interested.
There are a couple cheap spa places, and the very pricey Ritz Carlton. Some independent massage therapists usually working from their homes or small offices, but there is no other dedicated, high quality massage center in the Half Moon Bay area. Palo Alto has a couple higher level bodywork places but no real competition in the immediate area. There is a spa, watercourse way but it's such a different flavor I doubt we'd share clients very often. |
