Topa Topa Taxi is the only taxi cab service in the popular resort village of Ojai, California. Since it's inception in 2010, TTT has been a 24 hour service, and a significant contributor to the economic vitality of the Ojai valley. Topa Topa Taxi derives it's name form the Topa Topa ridge that anchors the east end of the magnificent Ojai valley. Ojai is often compared to Sedona, Aspen, Taos, Banff and other great resort towns in the American west. The beautiful Ojai valley has a population of nearly 40,000 people, and the valley is anchored on the east end by the dramatic Topa Topa ridge.
Ojai is known for it's vibrant artist colony, spiritual retreat and yoga centers, as a refuge for Hollywood stars, a center of entrepreneurism, and is often called "Shangri-La" since scenes from Ojai were used to depict "Shangri-La" in the 1939 movie, Lost Horizons.
Ojai Valley Inn and Spa (OVI)
The largest employer in the valley is the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa, 5 star 400 room resort, with championship golf course, that is the largest customer of Topa Topa Taxi. Being just 86 miles from Hollywood, the resort is a popular refuge for the movie industry, host to many celebrity weddings, a center for convention groups from around the world, and is an easy to reach retreat for the entire southern California region.
Business from the OVI, and other spas and hotels in the area, consist of shuttling people to and from the airports (LAX, Burbank, Santa Barbara), and from the hotels to local restaurants and attractions. Trips to one of the 50 vineyards near Ojai are popular, as are rides to the beach, the shops in Camarillo, and to restaurants and entertainment destinations in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and Ventura.
Boarding School Industry
After the traffic from the areas resorts and spas, the largest part of the Topa Topa Taxi business comes from the valley's boarding school industry. There are five boarding prep high schools and a boarding elementary school that attract students from all over the world. The oldest school, and the most exclusive is,Thacher, established in 1889. The students and their families generate a tremendous amount of our airport traffic. In addition, the students use us for runs to and from town, and for other trips around the area.
Weddings & Events
Ojai is a wedding destination center, and people from all across the country come here to be married. June and October are the largest months for wedding activity, and all three years of its existence, October has been the largest revenue month for TTT, due entirely to the wedding traffic. In 2012, there were over 30 weddings in the valley, and eleven one weekend. Weddings produce airport traffic, and local runs for rehearsal dinners and other activities. Occassionally, TTT is the main transportation for the event, and I will rent larger vehicles to shuttle 30 to 40 people at a time from local hotels to a venue in the mountains.
Valley Residents
Throughout the year, fairs, festivals, large conventions, Weddings or yoga and spiritual retreats will fill the area hotels. These events combine with the local traffic, to make Friday and Saturday nights the big revenue nights.
Competition:
TTT competes with shuttle and limo services, but offers a unique personal experiences that the competition just cannot duplicate. The nearest competing taxi cab service is in Oak View, five miles away, and one driver operation that can not approach the responsiveness and reliability of our multi-vehicle, multi-driver service.
